The Town Hall is located in the picturesque town of Horcajo de los Montes, which has a population of 1,116 inhabitants. This town is one of the largest in the area and has quality infrastructure. Among its attractions is the Parish Church of San Antonio Abad, built in the 16th century, and the Ethnographic Museum, where visitors can immerse themselves in local history and customs. You can also enjoy a pleasant walk following the Arroyo de la Chorrera until you reach the place of the jet, on the border with the park, where the stream forms an impressive waterfall of about 15 meters known as La Chorrera, from where you can contemplate a panoramic of the town. The fame of Horcajo de los Montes lies in the local craft of making carpets on a loom. For years, these rugs have been used to decorate prestigious buildings such as the Royal Theater and the Royal Palace, both in Madrid, as well as Paradores de Turismo, being recognized for their quality and beauty.

The history of Horcajo de los Montes dates back to the Stone Age, with evidence of human settlements and activities such as fur working dating back to 260 million years ago. During Roman times, Horcajo de los Montes was crossed by two important roads that connected Mérida with Toledo and Castilla with Andalusia.
After the Reconquista, Horcajo de los Montes was taken from the Moors by Alfonso VI with the help of the Cid in the year 1085. In 1591, the town already had its own church and council, depending on the jurisdiction of the city of Toledo.
However, one of the most notable episodes in the history of Horcajo de los Montes occurred around the year 1600, when King Philip III expelled the Moors from Spain. At that time, 19 families from Horcajo de los Montes were shipped to Africa from the port of Cartagena as part of that expulsion.
Throughout its history, Horcajo de los Montes has been known for its strategic location at the confluence of valleys and rañas, its canyon linking the ancient Mesta, and its tradition in the manufacture of handmade carpets on the loom, which have decorated emblematic buildings such as the Teatro Real and the Royal Palace in Madrid, as well as Paradores de Turismo.
