The area of Retuerta del Bullaque (in addition to Pueblonuevo del Bullaque)  is located in a privileged location within the Cabañeros National Park, being one of the most valuable and protected corners of the Montes de Toledo. It is a refuge for various endangered species, such as large birds of prey, black storks, eagles, vultures and many others. The landscape is made up of extensive pastures or meadows with rich seasonal grasses, while the mountains and massifs offer refuge to a varied fauna of birds and mammals. The magnificent natural environment of Retuerta del Bullaque invites you to practice a wide variety of activities in contact with nature.

History Retuerta del Bullaque

El municipio de Retuerta del Bullaque, que formaba parte de los Montes de Toledo, era una gran finca propiedad del Ayuntamiento de Toledo. Sin embargo, en el siglo XIX, se emancipó como villa y posteriormente pasó a formar parte de la provincia de Ciudad Real, debido a la reforma provincial llevada a cabo por Javier de Burgos en 1833. En Retuerta del Bullaque, los habitantes de los Montes de Toledo solían celebrar reuniones llamadas «llegas» para discutir sobre los problemas comunes que enfrentaban frente a la propietaria del territorio, la ciudad Imperial de Toledo. Aunque actualmente estas reuniones se organizan de manera simbólica, son llevadas a cabo por la Asociación Cultural Montes de Toledo.
