Navas de Estena History

The history of Navas de Estena dates back 700 years, to the year 1300 AD, when the Brotherhoods of Toledo, Talavera and Ciudad Real. They met for the first time in this place. These meetings were initially held in open fields, but over time an infrastructure of fixed buildings developed, which led to the formation of a stable population center: Navas de Estena. This place became the headquarters of one of the oldest regional institutions in Spain, the Arrives, which had powers in matters such as taxation and which had its headquarters in Navas de Estena for several centuries.

The history of Navas de Estena is closely linked to the history of its region, the Montes de Toledo. Although there are some unique episodes and characters specifically linked to the history of the municipality, the history of Navas de Estena cannot be fully understood without taking into account the context of the history of the region. Likewise, the history of the Montes de Toledo is often intertwined with the history of Navas de Estena, which has long been the geographic and political center of the region. Furthermore, it is expected that in the future Navas de Estena will become an important cultural center, with the creation of an Interpretation Center and Museum of the Montes de Toledo.
