Navahermosa

The municipality of Navahermosa is located in the southwestern part of the province of Toledo, in the Montes de Toledo region. Its municipal area covers an area of 130 km2 (13,000 hectares).

Castle of Two Sisters: This Templar castle, located a few kilometers from the town, stands majestically between two sister rocks, guarding the landscape with its imposing structure. Built in the 12th century, it was part of the network of Templar fortifications that protected the Montalbán commandery. Although it is currently in ruins, its walls still preserve the history of ancient battles and the life of its medieval inhabitants.

The Miracle: Located in an impressive natural environment, La Milagra is a meeting place for pilgrims and devotees of the Virgin of the Miracle. With its white hermitage as a focal point, this recreational area offers facilities to enjoy nature and is the starting point for numerous hiking routes. The annual pilgrimage stands out, bringing together the inhabitants of Navahermosa and visitors in an emotional religious and cultural encounter.

San Miguel's Church: This church, built in the 16th century on an earlier structure, is an outstanding example of religious architecture in Navahermosa. Its design includes five domes and a tower added in the 19th century. Although it suffered losses during the Civil War, it preserves artistic elements such as a baroque altarpiece and an 18th century organ. It is a point of interest both for its historical value and for its current religious activity.

The Cross of Doña Juana:  This cross, located in a high and sunny place, keeps a legend about a widow named Doña Juana and a tragic event that occurred in the 18th century. Although its origin is uncertain, it has become a symbol of local history and folklore, attracting visitors for its mysterious presence and its connection to the town's traditions.

Hermitage of San Sebastian: Built in the 16th century and rebuilt in 1671, this hermitage is an example of religious architecture in Navahermosa. Rectangular in plan and with a prominent coffered ceiling, it has been the subject of careful conservation by the municipality. Although its original function may have changed over time, it remains an important landmark in the community.

Cedena River: This river, although short in length, plays a crucial role in the local ecosystem. Born in the Montes de Toledo, it passes through towns and natural areas, offering shelter and food to a varied fauna and flora. The urbanization that bears his name has green and recreational spaces, including a Roman bridge and natural ponds that are a refuge for wildlife. It is an ideal place to enjoy nature and explore the history of the region.
