The companies linked to the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (CETS) of the territory of the Cabañeros National Park, as well as the new member companies, have renewed their accreditation until 2025. At the event, which took place at the Administrative Center of the Cabañeros National Park, located in Pueblonuevo del Bullaque (Ciudad Real), the vice president of the Ciudad Real Provincial Council, María Jesús Villaverde, participated.
The European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (CETS) is a voluntary European-wide accreditation granted by the EUROPARC Federation to protected natural areas and companies that voluntarily commit to applying the principles of sustainable tourism.
The renewal of membership in the CETS implies a greater commitment on the part of companies with the territory, as well as with the sustainable development of tourism, to which they add the investments of the Tourism Sustainability Plan in the Cabañeros National Park managed by the Provincial Council of Real city.
The Director of the Cabañeros National Park, Ángel Gómez, has thanked the incorporation, year after year, of new companies from different areas of society to the Cabañeros environment: “The collaboration between the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism and the Tourism Sustainability Plan comes to reflect how the administrations in unison are dedicated to promoting this type of quality tourism, with an epicenter in the Cabañeros National Park, which is one of the few high-quality natural spaces in Spain and without a doubt a source of pride for Castilla-La Stain".
Balance of the Tourism Sustainability Plan in the Cabañeros National Park
On the other hand, the vice president of Rural Development, Tourism and Sustainability of the Ciudad Real Provincial Council, María Jesús Villaverde, has thanked all tourism companies for their active participation within the framework of the Tourism Sustainability Plan last 2022. Many of them renew their membership have participated in the program of actions linked to the revitalization of the Cabañeros destination through proposals for activities such as the guided tour program aimed at the local population “Somos Paisaje”, the experience program for schoolchildren of the Cabañeros destination or the programming for the 27th Anniversary of the Cabañeros National Park.
From the Tourism Sustainability Plan in the Cabañeros National Park, 2023 is being prepared with a new calendar of tourist experiences in the territory that "allow to diversify the offer, de-seasonalize and attract a type of travelers with a greater spending capacity," he outlined. Villaverde, highlighting that it has been a very positive year for the province's rural tourism sector, which places it at 100,000 overnight stays this past year 2022.
From the line of action 'Offer and Development of Tourist Product', the Sustainability Plan in collaboration with the National Park and tourism agents will deploy a calendar of travel experiences to get to know the Cabañeros destination and breathe the Mediterranean forest through gastronomy, nature and ethnography, in which it will continue to have restaurants, local producers, rural accommodation and campsites, as well as active tourism and ecotourism companies that allow the positioning of tourist products such as astrotourism, nature observation and wine tourism.
According to the vice president, these actions represent a “plus in quality within the territory,” so “we are going to continue working along these lines to continue supporting Cabañeros, de-seasonalize this tourism and increase quality and visitors to the park.”
This action plan shows the union and collaboration between institutions, companies and the park with the aim of guaranteeing the tourist development of the territory in terms of sustainability and is financed through the Secretary of State for Tourism, the Ministry of Economy , Business and Employment of the Community Board of Castilla-La Mancha and the Provincial Council of Ciudad Real in collaboration with the Cabañeros National Park.
